Claudette is a tribute to old age, to our grandmothers, to those wrinkles filled with wisdom and experience. It pays homage to an entire generation of women who, after giving everything for others, find themselves alone.
A tribute to wrinkles filled with wisdom and experience. A tribute to an entire generation of grandmothers. A show that mixes juggling and puppetry, that aims to give voice and visibility to the elderly.
Claudette tells the story of an elderly woman, indignant about her loneliness as she approaches her 90th birthday.
Written and performed by Alex Allison and Sara Martínez, Claudette is a tale of a playful grandson and a tender, dreamy, and slightly cantankerous grandmother who, tired of being alone and sitting all day, fed up witheating soup day after day, wants to feel alive again. After all, celebrating 90 years doesn’t happen every day!
Claudette also speaks about intergenerational relationships- playful, and at times grumpy grandparents and their grandchildren, fountains of energy in the lives of the elderly. In a comedic and poetic manner, Claudette narrates those moments of play and complicity shared between grandparents and grandchildren.
