KANSANMUSIIKKI- LEHTI
Hailing from Oulu, Finland, Rällä continues skillfully and sensitively the beautiful heritage of traditional music from the vast and sparsely populated arctic Northern Ostrobothnia region. The style of playing is raw but creative, encouraging the arrangements to develop from the spontaneous communication between the musicians. The repertoire consists of mainly traditional tunes from Northern Osthrobothnia, but also include traditional tunes from all over northern Finland. A major part of Rällä’s musical identity lies in playing for dancers and in the seamless communication between musicians and the dancers. During those intense moments, dancers and musicians become one, and can reach a unique state that can be described as flow or trance.
